The Velveteen Rabbit has been launched. The audience was terrific, and the cast was so happy.
The Centennial Caterers and Joan Long provided such delicious food for the reception. Here are a few pics of the creative themed treats from the school.

Food is Being Prepared for Opening Night
The caterers are at it again! They are concocting some delicious treats for opening night. Last week, I met with the young caterers and they presented five separate ideas for our opening night. This event of ours has become a school project for a class of grade 11 students in their cooking class. Their teacher, Ms. Norton, has been a huge help for every BTG opening night. Joan Long also caters our delicious opening night receptions and she has promised to make her famous cheese ball!
The show runs from 7:30 to 9:00, and the reception will be immediately following.
FYI, the Sunday matinees start at 2:00 and are selling well.
Hope to see you at the theatre.

Tonight is the Preview
Tonight, we have our first audience for our final dress rehearsal. This is a critical performance because the actors have never performed in front of an audience before. So, the timing will change and the audience/actor interplay will come into effect.
Thursday night is our Opening Night! That night, after the play is finished, we will celebrate the launch of the production & Sara's birthday at a grand reception. Sarah took these pictures last week at one of our first dress rehearsals. Not everyone is in costume, and the floor is not painted, but you can see the magic!

Only four more rehearsals before we have an audience
As Opening Night gets closer, we are starting to focus on the details. Sunday morning, Perry and Angela went in to keep painting the luscious backdrop. Sara took some pics. Thanks to Funk and Gruven for the model boat!

Another Strong Work day
Today, many of the loyal Velveteen Rabbit Company met to continue painting the set and work on a wide variety of tasks. The Banner is finished, the boat and the train got painted, the cupboard and the flippy flats are 90% finished, the costumes got sorted and the rest of the vinyl letters for the boxes got adhered to the remaining boxes. I took some pictures of Helen's masks and of the VRs hard at work!

Gearing Up for an Audience

Some pics from the Playhouse
As I write this, we have just three weeks left until opening night! We have been rehearsing in the theatre now for about a week, and Sunday's rehearsal was our first run-through on the stage. The only really odd thing was the cold. The furnace stopped working and the temperature in the building never got above 16. When we first got there, it was only 12 degrees.
Luckily, the City rep and our wonderful facilities manager were able to get a hold of a repair company and the heat should be back on today. Here are some lovely pictures of warmups and the rehearsal on Sunday from Amy-Lyn..
